First Move 2023.
Day Two.
Generosity:
Is the quality of giving more that you are required or expected to.
Matthew 5:41
38 “You have heard that it was said, ‘An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.’
39 But I tell you not to resist an evil person. But whoever slaps you on your right cheek, turn the other to him also.
40 If anyone wants to sue you and take away your tunic, let him have your cloak also.
41 And whoever compels you to go one mile, go with him two.
42 Give to him who asks you, and from him who wants to borrow from you do not turn away.
Jesus is the master of generosity. The bible states that wherever He went He did good and expressed compassion and kindness. The custom of the day was an eye for an eye. But Jesus brought a new way of teaching and that was generosity.
Our heavenly Father expressed generosity to us when He sent Jesus to pay for our sins. He went over and above. He ‘so’ loved us (John 3:16).He did not wait for us to be upright to save us; but while we were sinners Christ died for us (Rom 5:8).
So freely we have received we must freely give generosity to the people around us. If you want to enjoy the favor of The Lord, choose to obey the principle of Generosity and you will see the difference in your life in the matter of day or weeks.
Favor will open up to you and people will flock to your side to support you in all your ventures. All because you are generous.
As a person who is striving to be and express generosity. You may ask should I go the extra mile with everyone? I submit to you that life is not black and white. There will be gray situations which will call for discernment and wisdom. This is why you are fasting and praying in this season that you may receive wisdom from God. Just make sure your motives are pure and you are willing to be generous.
Watch out for selfishness, finger pointing and greed. They are enemies of generosity. These qualities will hinder God best in your life and progress. Read the scripture below and ask the Holy Spirit to empower you to stay clear from those traits.
2 Timothy 3:1-5
1 But know this, that in the last days [a]perilous times will come:
2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
3 unloving, [b]unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good,
4 traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God,
5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!
Generosity: Lead with it.
Find someone or a situation where you can be generous today. And let your Light Shine and bring Glory to God.
